David Stein - Vice President
David is the President of Dale & Associates employee benefit consulting which works with business owners and managers to provide their employees with comprehensive and cost-effective benefits. He also works with owner/managers to identify risks that can prevent them from growing their businesses and recommends solutions th at can remove those risks. When he is not busy at work he sits on the board of the Ottawa Network and acts as it's secretary. This is David's second term as a board member. His outside interests include enjoying outdoors activities with his family. He is also an active musician who plays keyboards in two Ottawa bands.
Jason is a fearless visionary—a successful entrepreneur and co-founder and president of YOUi Labs and Flick Software.
Jason has 18 years of technical and business innovation experience, bringing leadership as CTO and founder of N-able Technologies, and as founder of Flick Software, a mobile solutions and products venture whose customers included Intel, Rogers Wireless, the U.S. military, and Sybase.
Jennifer is the CEO of Fenix Solution (www.fenix-solutions.com) an Ottawa based Open Source web technology company specializing in Drupal.
As a business woman in the technology industry Jennifer often finds herself in the position of mentoring both youth and those interested in starting their own businesses later in their careers. Jennifer’s interest and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship has resulted in the development of her monthly column called Ottawa Women of Wonder (www.owow.me) which features fabulous and brilliant businesswomen across Ottawa. Recently named one of the Top 25 People in the Capital by Ottawa Life Magazine, Jennifer has also launched a SaaS startup called AgentApp (www.agentapp.com) which provides a combined Content Management Solution / hosting environment for Real Estate Agents.
Hyatt is an tireless serial entrepreneur always searching for the next business opportunity to help out or invest in. As a former owner and co-founder of various successful businesses, Hyatt is an experienced and well versed sales and marketing person. He is always willing to listen to all reasonable business pitches and is quite happy to recommend good projects to potential partners as well.
Stephen is a customer facing professional with a passion for product definition, development, commercialization, marketing and business development in established and new venture organizations. Bell and Nortel experience in telecom services and technologies, consulting roles in healthcare and insurance systems and services and currently working with government information management/technology projects.
Luke is presently the Business Development Manager for the Gowlings Ottawa office. He is responsible for the maintenance and expansion of the Firm’s client relationships, as well as furthering business development in the Ottawa area.
Prior to joining Gowlings in 2008, Luke spent over 10 years in the Financial Services Industry where he worked with a leading Canadian Bank structuring and advising on some of the largest high tech finance deals in Ottawa.
Luke works closely with many Ottawa companies, including start-ups in a variety of industries. Luke is also co-founder of Grape Vine Mortgages and was named one of OBJ's top 40 under 40 in 2011.
Luke has been actively involved with The Ottawa Network since 2008 and joined the Board in 2009.
Shawn Mincoff, CA, CPA (Illinois) is a Partner with Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton a leader in assurance, taxation, consulting, turnaround and insolvency services serving small, medium and large organizations in every sector of activity. Shawn has over 14 years of experience providing accounting, audit, tax and related advisory services to entrepreneurs.
Shawn has worked extensively with both public and private companies in various industries and has worked with numerous companies that have developed from start-up stage to completion of an IPO, mergers and acquisitions. Shawn has assisted publicly-traded technology companies and emerging businesses working with Canadian , IFRS and U.S. accounting standards and securities rules and regulations. He has also worked with not-for-profit organizations and sits on finance committees for two not-for-profit organizations.
Karen is is the co-owner/founder of OutsideIN Inc. a marketing consulting firm based in the Ottawa region as well as EcoAwareness Inc., a sustainable events and promotions company.
Prior to OutsideIN, Karen co-founded CMI Inc., an IT security channel marketing company which achieved the Profit 50 award in 2008. Previous to CMI Inc., Karen co-founded IP3 Inc., an IT security research and education company, based in Michigan. Karen has also held various senior positions for Thomson Learning and Corel Corporation. Karen is an active supporter of the entrepreneurship community and actively mentors and supports start-ups in the region.
Julian White, President
Julian has been working in the technology industry for around 20 years and has spent the last 10 as an entrepreneur involved in startups. After a career in Nortel, Sifam Fiber Optics and JDS Uniphase, Julian founded 3 different companies over the space of 10 years. Julian is currently CEO of Apexacore Inc. a software development company specializing in mobile development for Business to Consumer applications, and CTO for DIVE Communications. Other career interests include mobile technology and helping to market businesses online and through mobile. Julian is an active member of the local community working in an advisory role with several startups.
Thomas, who launched the Prowse Technology Law Office in 2012, is the President and Founder of n2one inc. - a startup focused on the delivery of Open Source Software legal information. He joined GENBAND in 2010 as Intellectual Property Counsel after 3 years as a partner with Gowlings Kanata Technology Law Office where he practiced technology law and technology-related commercial matters. Prior to re-joining Gowlings, Thomas was Senior Counsel with Nortel where he worked extensively on Open Source Software matters during his 13 year.
Thomas was selected by his peers to be included in the 2010 and 2011 editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the Technology Law specialty. His in-house counsel, private practice, and government policy experience equip him to provide practical, timely, and concise legal advice grounded in his understanding of the business and technological challenges faced by companies today.
